Party, Potions & Peril by Beverly A. Rearick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A witch with no magic moves back to her home town after her husband's death to raise her child. Chaos ensues when her daughter gains powers, a string of robberies plagued her neighbors, and her friend becomes the main suspect in a murder. Can she solve the murder before her friend goes to jail. You will just have to read this book to find out.
This is a cozy mystery thriller at it's finest. All the classic elements are there. It was a quick read with good flow, plot development and character building. I would highly recommend this book as it was a solid foundation for a series. If you like cozy mysteries, thrillers, will they, won't they romance, then this book is for you. The characters were believable and their conflicts did not contrast with the story each person played their part well to move the plot along. Some if the magic elements were vague and the movement between scenes was a bit choppy, but this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the story and I personally look forward to more installments.

The characters were believable and their conflicts did not contrast with the story each person played their part well to move the plot along. Some if the magic elements were vague for instance, there were only three examples of potion usage for a book with potion in the title. Plus the movement between scenes was a bit choppy and hard to follow. These issues did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the story and I personally look forward to more installments.
